This is what happened:

CAY: (asking Claudia-bio tutorial teacher- about why mucus was a chemical defence mechanism.)

Claudia: (explains to her why)

CAY: But bla bla bla..(cant be bothered to remember exactly how it goes)

       Something flashed across her face. Whatever her expression had been, it did not matter. What was left that showed was a cool and calm mask that carefully shielded away her annoyance at the silly student's pestering about the matter. 

       Claudia raised an eyebrow at the girl's pestering. She leant back against the hard plastic back of the chair. 

       "Whatever you like, sweetheart. If you think that it is, then it is," she replied with a sickeningly sweet tone that was dripping with sarcasm. 

       "But...but.." CAY stammers.

       "Whatever you like," she cuts her off, her tone even sweeter still to hide the deadly undertone. 

And the rest of the class chuckles silently.
